Number 10 – Cliff Village, China
Cliff Village, located in the Sichuan Province of China, is one of the strangest places on earth where humans actually dwell. It is a remote “island” in the highlands, 800 metres above ground deep. The village’s forefathers came here hundreds of years ago to flee a battle. Back along in the past, the village was inhabited by people who were extremely poor.
In earlier times, the only way to enter the village was through a series of lengthy, precarious ladders. Though the ladders were improved to a little extent, tourists still feel it is a tough job to climb the ladder. The local government made a large financial investment in it in 2016, replacing the previous wooden ladders with a new, sturdy steel one. You will be surprised to know that the ladder has almost 2555 steps measuring almost 2 miles long.
