Number 9 – Drina River House, Serbia
Drina river house is a wooden, small house, situated on a rock in the middle of the Drina river, Serbia. A group of swimmers in need of shelter erected the initial structure of the isolated house in 1968.
The guys started moving timber from an old abandoned warehouse, using canoes and improvised boats to cross the river. Up to 2019, it was damaged seven times by the river’s high flood, but each time it was rebuilt.
Today, this iconic and isolated wooden house is a popular travel destination for people who are curious about the unique history of the endearing and obstinate little home that resists the elements and the fury of one of Europe’s most ferocious rivers.
