Number 1 – Hanging Temple of Hengshan, China
Just the sight of the Hanging Temples is enough to strike fear in any acrophobic person. The Hanging Temples have nearly 40 rooms that are connected by a bewildering network of corridors. According to local folks, Liao Ran, a monk during the Northern Way Dynasty, built this amazing temple. The whole temple protrudes more than 50 metres above the ground from the steep cliff.
You will be surprised to know that it is only one of the few temples which are dedicated to three religions: Buddhism, Confucianism and Taoism. It is one of the major reasons behind it withstanding the test of time as no government or monarchy system was brave enough to put it down.
